Whenever possible, we seek to preserve the original architectural character of the buildings we work on. In this apartment in Penha de França, the clients shared that same intention.
More than a renovation, this was a bespoke project designed for a family of musicians. Everyday needs led to an unconventional organisation of the spaces. The former dining room gave way to a music room, where guitars, a piano, sheet music and instruments shared among friends have found their place by the window seat, lit by the morning sun. Meals moved to the enclosed balcony, next to the kitchen, favouring a more practical and natural use of the home.
In the choice of materials, we sought to reinforce the apartment’s original character: pink Lioz limestone was used for the kitchen countertops and the bathroom basins, creating a dialogue with the hydraulic tile flooring.
We thus achieved a deeply personalised home that, like music, is built on the balance between technique, sensitivity and time.
