One Home, Two Places

This apartment rehabilitation project in Avenidas Novas, Lisbon, begins far from here, in Mozambique. The clients live between these two places, and this way of dwelling between geographies ultimately defined our approach to the space.

The apartment already existed, with a clear and compartmentalized structure, so there was no need to alter it radically. But a small adjustment makes a big difference: a restrained yet precise intervention allows the home to begin breathing differently, connections become more natural, and in turn, light flows through the space continuously.

In the kitchen and bathrooms, the materials create a stable foundation:

black granite, beige tones, surfaces that don’t demand attention. The rest builds itself: objects brought from different places, pieces that tell stories and, of course, memories that gradually occupy the space, effortlessly.

In the end, this project doesn’t try to impose a new identity. It organizes, clarifies, and provides space for life, between Portugal and Mozambique, to continue happening naturally. As it should.
