The renovation had a clear starting point: opening the kitchen to the living room. However, the room was already large, and a total opening could dilute the unique character of each space.
The solution was the portico: an element that establishes a connection between the two spaces without merging them, allowing for a direct relationship, visual continuity, and shared light, while maintaining the identity of each zone. A simple architectural gesture with a strong presence.
The kitchen’s former entrance gained an unexpected and perfect new purpose: an art deco stained-glass window. An element that could have disappeared ended up becoming one of the most distinct features of the house, bringing crafted light, geometry, and an aesthetic reference that transcends time.
Black and white dominate the choice of materials. This language of contrasts needs no justification: it is decisive, timeless, and provides the ensemble with a coherence that holds everything else together.
