The intervention in this apartment in Arroios was guided by a simple principle: to preserve everything that still made sense. Rather than indiscriminately replacing the existing elements, we sought to enhance the authenticity of the home and its materials.
The doors and original flooring were carefully retained, helping to preserve the apartment’s character and reinforce continuity between its history and a new way of living in it. We believe a renovation gains depth when it recognises the value of what already exists.
The outdoor space also deserved renewed attention. The patio, previously finished with bituminous surfacing, was hardly inviting to spend time in and ended up being an underused space. The installation of a ceramic deck met both aesthetic and technical criteria, transforming it into a natural extension of the home.
More than a renovation, this intervention sought to reveal the apartment’s potential, respecting its identity and creating spaces that are more comfortable, functional, and ready to be lived in every day.
life, between Portugal and Mozambique, can continue to unfold naturally. Just as it should be.
